Iron powder core series

Description

● The current going through differential mode inductor must be AC current, generally the core material is iron powder of lower μ value, so the inductance is lower, whose typical value is between several ten and hundred uH.


● Disturbing magnetic field produces turn-to-turn differential mode current, then on load interference arises, which is called differential mode interference. The filtering inductor suppressing differential mode interference is just differential mode inductor. 


● A differential mode inductor is a coil wound on an iron core.


● The differential mode inductor features being used for high-current condition. Due to the coil wound on a iron core, then when the incoming current increases, the core will  reach a saturation state, so the mostly used material is metal powder core.

Application

● Under the condition when the AC frequency is fixed, the higher the inductance is, the stronger the differential mode inductor's resistance to AC will be, and vice versa. Besides, when the inductance value is fixed, the higher the AC frequency is, the stronger the inductor's resistance to AC will be, and vice versa. In other words, the inductor has the characteristic of passing DC but resisting AC.
